Tourism Whitsundays is one of 14 Regional Tourist Organisations (RTOs) in
Queensland
. As a Regional Tourist Organisation for the Whitsundays our organisation is responsible for the promotion of an area that consists of 74 islands located in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef and the
Queensland
mainland from Bowen in the north to Laguna Quays in the south, inland to Proserpine and to the coast including Airlie Beach.
By air, the region is around an hour from
Cairns
or
Brisbane
and two hours from
Sydney
. Visitors can enjoy a diverse range of activities including watersports, bushwalking, parasailing and golf. A range of accommodation from budget backpacker to B&Bs through to luxury resorts exists for visitors to the destination.
